John Doolittle is a doctor in the village of Paddleby on the Swamp, where he lives with his sister. He loves animals and always helps them without selfishness. As a result, the doctor has a lack of money, since he loses almost all of his human patients. But still he gained the ability to understand the language of animals, and the inhabitants of the world fauna can now turn to him for help. His adventures began with an expedition to Africa, whose goal is to save the monkeys from the epidemic.

The plot of the comedy The amazing journey of Dr. Dolittle in a fantasy style is based on the stories of the writer from England, Hugh Lofting, which were born back in the twenties. By the way, the writer began to create them when he was a participant in the battles during the First World War. Initially, he wrote simply about a doctor who loves animals, as if contrasting him with the horror that is happening around him.

The author combines all these stories into one book, which has earned huge success, and soon he writes a sequel – a work that was even awarded the Newbury Medal. It is also worth noting the creator of the film – Oscar winner Stephen Geigan, who received him for the script for the film Traffic. Interestingly, the main role was played by Robert Downey Jr., famous for the films Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes.
