1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster
The company Mercedes-Benz has always been known as a provider of great cars, great demand from the political, artistic and commercial aristocracy. Released before World war II, the model 540K was the culmination of the development of the prestigious models of the brand.
After the merger of Daimler and Benz in 1926, the commercial success of new firms in the first place dependent on the production of cars of mass demand, such as MV and 170 cars in market-oriented middle class — MV and 290 MV 320. In order to capture niche cheap to operate machines, demand for which is dictated mainly taxis, in 1935 Mercedes-Benz was the first to mass-produce diesel passenger car MV 260D. Constant updating and improvement of the lower and middle models has forced the company management to maintain brand image, to develop a new car top of the range.
The first car of this series — Mercedes-Benz 380K was introduced to the public at the Berlin motor show in 1933 and in 1934 replaced with 500K. The final development of the car was in 1936 in the form of models of the Mercedes-Benz 540K. All these models are based on durable steel frame side members, a new row eight-cylinder overhead valve engine with a traditional compressor and an independent spring suspension on all wheels. The volume of the engine over the three years has increased from 3796 5401 cm3 to cm3, and its capacity (included with compressor) increased from 120 to 180 horsepower.
Each of the 406, built from 1936 to 1939 540K series automobiles were going individually to the highest German standards using the best materials. Many cars carry custom body the best workshops of the world, but most are completely made in the factories of Mercedes-Benz.
