BIOGRAPHY OF JOAN BENNETT
Hollywood actress, radio host.
Joan Geraldine Bennett was born on 27 February 1910 in Palisades Park, new Jersey, USA.
Her parents were famous theatre actors, especially famous were the father, Richard. In fact, Joan was a hereditary artist of the ancient family of the artists of the eighteenth century. Often parents, going to another tour, leaving Joan and her two older sisters close friends. For the first time Joan appeared on stage in four years. In five years she starred in a movie with his father. In 1923, Joan played the boy in “the Eternal city” (“The eternal city”), which starred her father. It took another five years before she re-appeared on the blue screen.
At age 16 she married 26-year-old Jack Marion Fox. The marriage was not happy — Jack was drinking heavily. They had a girl Adrian. In the summer of 1928, they divorced. To support the child Joan started acting in movies. The role in the movie “the Power” (“Power” 1928), where her partners were Alan Hall and Carole Lombard, were insignificant, but that was only the beginning.
In 1929 she starred in the film “Bulldog drummond”. Later, the year she starred in three film “DISRAELI”, “MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER” and “THREE LIVE GHOSTS”. Between the years 1930-1931, she appeared in nine films. Joan was shot and was at the peak of popularity until 1940.
In 1940 she married the producer Walter wanger. In this marriage she had two children — Stephanie (1943 p) and Shelley (1948).
After 1950, her meteoric ascent was setting, aided by the scandal. Her husband, Walter wanger, shot several times in theatrical agent actress Jennings lang, who was jealous of his wife. Herself Joan Bennett categorically denied having an affair with Jennings lang. Despite the scandal the marriage lasted until 1965.
Joan starred in eight movies and two TV series. After the movie “DESIRE IN THE DUST” (1960) left the stage for 10 years. Her final work was in television — “love Story” (1982).
In 1978 the actress was married to the publisher and film critic David Wilde, and lived with him until his death
Joan Bennett died on December 7, 1990 in Scarsdale (NY, USA) from a heart attack. In honor of the actress established star on the Hollywood walk of Fame.
