Winnipeg – is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in the eastern part of the prairies in western Canada. “Gateway to the West” – one of the ancient names of the city.
Winnipeg is located very near the geographic center of the continent, at the confluence of two mighty rivers and Assinibon Ed. This place is nowadays widely known as Forks and has long been a very popular local attraction.

At the beginning of the last decade, the Winnipeg twice confessed “Canadian Business Magazine” one of the ten best cities in the country to do business, and five years ago the company “of KPMG” has named it one of the most affordable in Canada, cities to start a commercial activity.
The Royal Canadian Mint is located to the east of Winnipeg and has long been a place where there is minting and printing of all monetary units of the country. This factory was established in one thousand nine hundred fifth year and is also engaged in production of coins for many foreign countries.
The ethnic diversity of the inhabitants of the city has long been an important part of local culture. Most of the population has a Canadian or European origin and visible minorities make up a little more than sixteen percent of the population of the city.
University of Manitoba, located in Winnipeg, is considered the largest educational institution in the province. It was established in one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seventh year, and is the first university in the western part of the country. It can be called the city home to private schools, both religious and secular.
The Manitoba Museum is considered to be the biggest museum of the province. It presents nine galleries and a planetarium. Also in the city is a whole lot of different attractions, for example, the Winnipeg Railway Museum, Assinibon Park and St. Vital Park.
