BIOGRAPHY
VIKTOR ROBERTOVICH TSOI

Rock musician, singer, poet, founder and leader of the Kino rock band, artist, film actor.

Born on June 21, 1962 in Leningrad (Kupchino district) in the family of physical education teacher Valentina Vasilyevna Tsoi (1937-2009) and engineer Robert Tsoi Maksimovich (born in 1938). Victor was their only child.
C 1974 to 1977 – the future musician attends a secondary art school, where there is a group of “Chamber number 6”, headed by Maxim Pashkov.
In 1977 he entered the art school named after Serov, but a year later he was expelled and went to work at the plant.
In 1979 he entered SGPTU-61 on the specialty woodcarver.
1982 – Album “45”. The first electric concert of the group “Cinema” in the Leningrad rock club.
1983 – The Second Acoustic Concert “Kino” in a rock club and recording of a demo phonogram, later called “46”.
1984 – Recording of the album “Head of Kamchatka”. The second part of the “Cinema” is made.
1985 – Viktor Tsoi works on two albums: “Night” and “This is not love”.
1986 – The Night is released.
1987 year – Recorded the album “Blood type”.
1988 – The album “Blood Type”. Recording the album “Star Called the Sun.”
1989 – Touring the country. The album “Star by the name of the Sun”, the latest concerts of “Cinema” in Leningrad.
1989 – The Last Hero disc is recorded in France.
1989 – The album “The Star Called the Sun”. In April – a trip to France, in June – to the USA, in September – to Rome (Italy).
1990 – Trip to Japan (in between tours). In the summer recorded the latest album.

February 4, 1984 – Viktor Tsoi marries Mariana (1959-2005), and on August 5, 1985, the couple had a son, Alexander.
Viktor Tsoi and Mariana parted in 1987, he went to Natalia Razlogovoy, moving to live in Moscow. However, the marriage officially they did not have time to terminate.

In 1988, according to a survey of film critics of the magazine “Soviet screen” for the performance of the role of Moreau – Viktor Tsoi was named the best actor of the year.

June 24, 1990 – the last concert of the Kino group took place in Moscow at the Luzhniki Grand Sports Arena. After that, Viktor Tsoi and Yury Kasparyan retired at a dacha near Jurmala, where they started recording material for a new album with an acoustic guitar. This album, mixed by the musicians of the Kino group after Tsoi’s death, was released in December 1990 and was named the Black Album.

At the end of July 1990, Victor took his son Sasha and his new beloved Natalia Razlogova to go to the Baltic states to rest.

He died tragically on August 15, 1990 in a car accident near the village of естерesterciems (35th km of Sloka – Talsi highway, Tukums district, Latvian SSR, USSR).
He was buried on August 19 at the Theological Cemetery in Leningrad.

Tsoi’s grave is a place of pilgrimage for his fans. It is located 150 meters from the Church of St. John the Divine in Bratsk (Central) Alley.

The death of the poet and musician Viktor Tsoi was a shock for many fans. A “wall of Tsoi” appeared in Krivoarbatsky Lane in Moscow, which the fans of the group wrote on with the inscriptions “Kino”, “Tsoi Alive” and declarations of love to the musician.

Director Alexei Uchitel shot the documentary The Last Hero, dedicated to Viktor Tsoi.

In 2002 in Latvia, a monument was erected at the place of the musician’s death. Another monument to Viktor Tsoi was opened on July 15, 2009 in St. Petersburg. A plaster sculpture depicting a musician sitting on a motorcycle was installed on Nevsky Prospect, opposite the Aurora cinema.

In the name of Viktor Tsoi, a street was named in the microdistrict No. 7 of the city of Noyabrsk, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
Victor Tsoi street is in the suburb of Novorossiysk – the village of Tsemdolina.
Also the name of Viktor Tsoi is the asteroid number 2740.
