Tesla CEO Ilon Musk unveiled an all-electric pickup truck Thursday night at a special event in Los Angeles. The vehicle, called the Cybertruck, has received a retro-futuristic design with angular shapes and impressive technical specifications.

Cyberpickup has already become the sixth Tesla model since its inception in 2003, and the company experimented most with its development. She will compete with the Ford F Series, which has been the best-selling pickup truck for over 40 years in the United States, and she will also have to compete with General Motors rival Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Musk previously stated that the new electric car will cost about $ 50,000, and that it will be distinguished from traditional trucks by its cyberpunk style inspired by two films – The Spy Who Loved Me and Blade Runner. The head of the company fully admits that thanks to such an unusual design, the demand for a Tesla pickup can be much less than the demand for the flagship Model S sedan and Model X crossover.

During the presentation, the CEO called on the stage of Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, who demonstrated how robust the Cybertruck is. He threw a metal ball into the driver’s window, which, to the surprise of the Mask, cracked, but did not break through the glass.

Prior to this, the head of Tesla claimed that the pickup will be bulletproof, and in its production uses materials that SpaceX uses in the construction of the Starship spacecraft.

The interior of the Tesla cyber truck is also made in a fairly futuristic-minimalist style: 2 rows of 3 dark seats, a central display on an absolutely flat dashboard without extra buttons and a steering wheel, like in Formula 1 cars.

Prices for the Cybertruck Tesla will start at $ 39900. For the money it will be possible to buy a rear-wheel drive version with a power reserve of 400 km and a maximum speed of 177 km / h. A model with two engines and four-wheel drive will cost $ 49,990, get a range of 480 km and a speed of 193 km / h. The version with three Tri Motor AWD engines will cost $ 69,900, will be able to drive 800 km on a single charge and accelerate to a maximum of 210 km / h. Their carrying capacity will be 1.6 tons, and the mass of the towed cargo, respectively, 3.4 – 4.5 – 6.35 tons.

The demo video showed how the Cybertruck easily tows the Ford F150, which is unsuccessfully resisting, as well as how it overtakes the Porsche 911 in direct distance.

In one of his tweets, Musk wrote that the sealed version of Cybertruck will become the official car of Mars:

One of the features of the new Tesla pickup truck is 220 V on-board sockets, which can include almost any household equipment, up to a powerful compressor. An adaptive air suspension is responsible for the ground clearance of 40 cm, it also provides a more economical energy consumption, both on off-road and on the highway.

All versions of the electric cyber pickup will be equipped with the function of an advanced driver’s assistant as standard. A full-fledged autopilot Tesla, allowing the car to move around without the help of a driver, will cost an additional $ 7,000.

Musk also introduced “one more thing” – the Tesla electric ATV, which easily drives into the body of a pickup truck on a special retractable platform and can be charged from an electric car through the charging port in the trunk. Tesla did not say whether it intends to produce and sell its off-road ATV.

The company plans that the production of a cheaper modification of the electric pickup should begin at the end of 2021, and a three-engine will follow it by 2022. You can pre-order a new Tesla off-road electric car on the company’s website for a deposit of $ 100.
