The future actor studied at a private school in Durham and the prestigious private school St. Bees School (Cumbria, North-West England).
Roawn Atkinson: “I studied in a private English school, where the sport was one of the most important aspects of life. I was incredibly helpless in similar activities. And somehow found himself in the locker room in some drawers depicting our teachers. I did it consciously. Classmates appreciated my comic talents, and I have not been so painfully embarrassed for his lack of talent in sport”.

He then attended Newcastle University, where he specialized in technical Sciences and electrical engineering. In 1975, Atkinson went to continue studies for obtaining academic degrees at king’s College Oxford. There he entered into the comic troupe of Experimental theater club “Etceteras” and the Dramatic society at Oxford University, where he became friends with future Director Richard Curtis, later, his frequent co-author.
Roawn Atkinson: “After school I had never thought about the acting profession. Went to University in Newcastle, the faculty of electronics. Here’s what I have always found it easy. Then I was taken to Oxford to write a doctorate. Well, then everyone knows everything. Met with talented students, future stars of British stage and television, participated in shows, TV programs, radio and so forth.”

Participating in theatrical productions, Roeun quickly gained credibility and popularity in student circles as a brilliant author of sketches and comic actor. His first performances in Oxford and at the student theatre festival “the Fringe” in Edinburgh in 1976 was a phenomenal success. After completing the course of study Rowan some time toured with the troupe of “Etceteras”, working with actor and comedian Angus Dayton.
In 1978, the young star has entrusted a private project called “The Atkinson People” which appeared in the format of a radio show on the station “BBC Radio 3”. The show consisted of funny and acerbic interview Atkinson invented their characters.
From 1979 to 1982 Atkinson produced his own TV show “Not the nine o’clock news” on channel “BBC”, which gained a lot of popularity among the audience and colleagues of the artist. In this project, he was the leading actor and screenwriter.

In 1990 Roawn Atkinson married artist, makeup artist Sunetra sastri, whom he met while working on the series “the Black adder”. The wedding ceremony was held in new York at the restaurant “Russian Tea Room”, and best man was Stephen fry. In marriage, the couple had a son, Benjamin Alexander (1993) and a daughter, Lily grace (1995).
In 1999, parodist made a not very successful attempt to parody the iconic character of Doctor Who in the film “Doctor Who and the Curse of imminent death.”
In 2003 and 2011 Comedy johnny English” (2003) and “Agent johnny inglish: Reloaded” (2011), the actor played his third famous character — agent johnny English, parody of James bond. However, these tapes had moderate success.
Roawn Atkinson: “I think most of all I like agent-spy johnny English than, say, Mr bean. At least I hope so. He has no less than three dimensions, and the man was much more pleasant than the Bin. It is unlikely that you would want to go along with Mr Bean for dinner?”

In late 2012, Rowan Atkinson has announced changes in their professional activities. The actor has decided to part with his comic character Mr Bean, wanting to focus on more dramatic roles.
In 2014, foreign media the information appeared that the Union of Atkinson and his wife Sunetra sastri is under threat.
