Biography
American actress, singer, dancer.
Real name – Rosita Dolores Alver.
Rita Moreno debuted on Broadway at the age of 13 years. It was then that her producers have noticed and was invited to the movies. In 1950, she starred in “The Toast of New Orleans,” and appeared in the famous musical in 1952. “Singing in the Rain.” The role in “West Side Story” in 1961 earned her a nomination for “Oscar” and “Golden Globe”. Overall, the actress made more than one hundred and thirty roles in films and on television. She has appeared in the TV series “The Love Boat”, “Miami Vice: Department of manners” and others.
But Rita Moreno and did not leave the stage. In 1985, she received the theater award Sarah Siddons to work in Chicago theater. In June 2004, US President awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom actress, and in 2010 – the National Medal of the Arts. Also Rita Moreno was awarded a prize Screen Actors Guild.
June 18, 1965 the actress married Leonard Gordon, his manager, they have a daughter Fernanda. According to Moreno, in the 50 years she had an affair with Marlon Brando, and she was even pregnant with him, but had an abortion.
