Biography
Richard Allen Boone (June 18 1917 – January 10 1981) is an American actor who starred in over 50 films and was known for his roles in westerns, as well as the role in the TV series “Have Gun – Will Travel”. Boone was born in Los Angeles, California, in the family of Cecile Beekman and Kirk Boone. Father at that time was a successful lawyer. Richard in addition to the two brothers, many relatives.
Richard studied in high school, “Hoover High School” in Glendale, California. Then he studied at the University “Stanford University” in Palo Alto, California, but never graduated. Tried his hand as a boxer, bartender, painter and oilman. In 1941 when world war II began, Richard decided to enlist in the Navy. He served on three ships in the Pacific.
After the war received benefits that allowed him to learn acting at the actors Studio in new York. Richard first debuted on the Broadway stage in 1947 in the play “Medea”. After played in two productions of “Macbeth” in 1948 and “The Man” in 1950. In 1950, the film company “20th Century Fox” signed a seven-year contract with Richard. In the same year debuted in the film “Halls of Montezuma”, playing a naval officer. During filming, he befriended Jack Webb.
In 1953, Richard played Pontius Pilate in the movie “the Robe”. He had only one scene in the film, in which he gives the order to crucify Christ. His last role was played in the movie “the Bushido Blade” playing of Commodore Matthew Perry. 10 Jan 1981 Richard Bud died of throat cancer in St. Augustine. His ashes scattered in the Pacific ocean near Hawaii.
