Biography
Canadian actor.
Full name – Raymond Hart Massey.
Raymont Massey graduated from the University of Toronto and joined the ranks of the army in the midst of World War I, served as a gunner, was wounded. After his return, he began appearing in theater productions.
In 1922 he made his debut on the big screen in the film “The highest degree of betrayal.” After the films already starred in “The Old Dark House”, “The Shape of Things to Come”, “The Prisoner of Zenda”, embodies the character of Sherlock Holmes in the movie “The Speckled Band” in 1931. In 1941 he was nominated for the prestigious “Oscar” for his role as Abraham Lincoln in the film by John Cromwell “Abe Lincoln in Illinois.” Twenty years later, he had to play Lincoln again in the film “How the West Was Won.” A total of actor Raymond Massey account for more than seventy works in the movies. One of his last works in the movie was the film “Mackenna’s Gold” in 1969.
Raymond Massey was married three times, two of his three children became actors.
The actor died of pneumonia July 29, 1983 in Los Angeles.
