Biography
In 1986, Rachel Drach entered the National Theater Institute. She was part of the main comedy troupe “The Second City” for four years. She received the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actress for her roles in the performances of Paradigm Lost and Promisekeepers, Losers Weepers.
American actress Rachel Susan Drach was born on February 22, 1966 in the city of Lexington, Massachusetts. Her mother, Elaine, was a transport chief, and her father, Paul Drach, worked as a radiologist. She studied Rachel at Lexington High School, where she learned to play the cello. At first she wanted to become a therapist, but after graduation she enrolled in the specialty “drama” and “psychology” in Dartmund College. There she was part of an improvised comedy troupe “Said and did.”

At the institute, Rachel, along with Tina Fei, showed the show “Dratch & Fey”, which was later performed in “The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater”, the so-called improvisation theater in New York.
It was the sketch show “Saturday Night Live” that made Rachel Drach famous. Her first participation in the show was the episode “Wicked”, which was borrowed from the production of “The Second City” “Paradigm Lost”. For seven years, from 1999 to 2006, Rachel participated in this sketch show. She took part in the story of two Boston teenagers, Sally and Denise, in the stories of Hollywood producer Abe Shainwalde, along with Will Ferrell, in the story of two loving professors. One of the most famous characters in her performance was Debbie Downer, a depressed woman who, throughout the entire sketch show, put her remarks on a variety of topics, from the greenhouse effect and infertility to feline AIDS.
In addition to “Saturday Night Live” Rachel Drach starred in many feature and television films. They were very small roles in films, “Slaughter Hammer”, “Almost in the Law”, “Dicky Roberts: Star Child”, “Orientation Lessons”, “Living in the Winter”, “Thirst for Pleasure” and others. And also films where Rachel performed more or less prominent roles, such as “To hell with love”, “In search of Kitty”, “Easy hobby”, “Chuck and Larry: Fire Wedding”, “Harold” and many others. Among her television work is the series “King of Queens”, “The Third Shift”, “Defective Detective”, “O’Grady School”, “30 Rock” and others.
In 2009, Rachel Drach participated in the filming of four films “My Life in Ruins”, “Love and Dancing”, “Odd Brodsky” and “Spring Break”.
