Created in Manchester (England), Oasis became a sensation in 1994. The media interest in him has increased exponentially. He was regarded in the press as the natural successor to “Happy Mondays”. The backbone of the group were brothers Gallaghers, Liam John (b. 21 Sep 1972, Longsight, England; vocals) and Noel Thomas (b. 29 may 1967, Longsight, England; guitar, vocals). They grew up in an Irish Catholic family in the southern suburbs of Manchester, Burnage. While his younger brother attended school Noel, whom his father bought a guitar upon reaching the age of 11, became a punk, and like many of his peers enjoyed absenteeism, theft and substance abuse. After serving six months for robbing a store he seriously took up the instrument at age 13, taking the role model of johnny Marr from “the Smiths”. Liam wasn’t into music until 1989, until his older brother took him to a concert “Inspiral carpets”. Later Noel met with a guy from this group called Clint boon, which subsequently became the band’s roadie and went on a journey around the world with them. When in 1991 he called home, informed his mother that Liam had joined a band.
Gender “Bonged” Arthurs (born 23 June 1965, Manchester, England; guitar), Tony Mackeral (drums) and Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan (born 9 may 1971, Manchester, England) played together, called “Rain”, but after Liam became their vocalist they changed their name to “Oasis”. When Noel returned in 1992, to see how they play, then asked him to group leader-guitarist and even insisted that they sang his songs. Miraculously, they almost signed a contract with “Creation Records”. In may 1993, the group went to Glasgow to perform with the “18 Wheeler” in “King Tut’s Wah Wah Club”. Oasis then played only five songs, but it was enough to hypnotize the boss “Creation” Alan McGee, who offered them a contract. However, they did not sign until several months later their demo did not get to the johnny Marr, who brought them together with “Ignition”. There were various rumors that the guys are ready to sign a contract with any label in addition to “Creation”, but it was not so soon in October 1993, the company released a “debut” group, single-sided 12-inch promo. The song began immediately to turn on bi-Bi-si, that was a very rare case for such a “publication”.
The next year began with a stream of publications in print, most of which was devoted to the behavior of group members. Fights and excessive use of alcohol and drugs, which disrupted the concerts, the constant bickering between the brothers Gallagher – all this was of interest to the press. However, the song “Supersonic” came in may in the British Top 40. And “Shakermaker”, two months later, took 11 th place in the charts. Belopotosky “Live Forever”, with a cover on which was a photograph of the house, where was a John Lennon, was in the Top 10 in October. All this foreshadowed the release of the phenomenal debut album. And in September of 1994 “Definitely mayby” took first place in the English charts, and the accompanying single, “Cigarettes and alcohol” took the seventh position in October. In December, Oasis released the single “Whatever”, with the song, sounding very harmoniously, which was surprising for a group with experience in only eight months. Their conquest of America began in January 1995 when, after a few concerts in the States “Oasis” came in there Top 50. In mid-1995 it was announced that the drummer, Mackeral left the group and instead will play Alan white (born 26 may 1972, London, England).
With his participation was recorded the second album “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?”. Gorgeous melodies Gallagher was spectacular, from the acoustic simplicity of “Wonderwall” to the raucous and dense of proportionality “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and “Morning Glory”. And such gems as “Roll With It” and “Some Might Say”, made the band the top spot in the UK charts during the summer. The singles “Roll With It” and “Wonderwall” took the second spot, while “Don’t Look Back In Anger” came on second position next March. “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?” was one of the finest albums of the rock era, and remained the biggest selling album of the 90s in England. “The oasis” suddenly received such media attention, which was previously used only the fab four. In the press discussed their sex lives, drug and alcohol addiction, brawls, and stuff like that. The rumors about the split of the group went during their ninth attempt to conquer America in September 1996. After one of the massacre, placed there by Noel “Oasis” returned to England, canceled the remainder of the tour. The press wrote that after that, it was unlikely that the group will remain together.
However, the awards continued to flow throughout a remarkable year, as some modern rock bands have created such an organic high-quality work in such a short period of time, and no one else (except the Beatles) has not enjoyed such massive success media. The long-awaited third album was preceded by the single “D You Know What I Mean?”, occupied the first line of the British charts. On the day of release “Be here now” record stores were queues, and within 24 hours in England were sold 800,000 copies of this album. The music was much more dense than on previous albums, with the prevalence of guitars on many tracks. “Stand By Me” became one of the most beautiful songs Noel Gallagher, and “All Around The World” quickly became the favorite of the encore concerts of “Oasis”. The Gallagher constantly new problems, so Liam was arrested in Australia for assaulting one of the fans, although this accusation was later withdrawn.
In 1998 he released a collection of popular things “Oasis” which includes the concert hits “Acquiesce” and “Stay Young”. In the following March, former drummer for the band, Mackeral started a court showdown with former colleagues. A tumultuous year came to an end when Arthurs and McGuigan left the group in August. Arthurs was replaced by gem (ex – “Heavy Stereo”), while the place Macguigan took Andy bell (former leader of the “Ride” and “Hurricane #1”). Oasis have announced they will release their fourth album, “Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants” on their own label “Big Brother”. And although the album was preceded by the single “Go Let It Out”, which occupied the top lines in the charts he had such success as a creative ‘Oasis’ mid-90s. last Name brothers continued to flash in the headlines, although most of the news concerned their marital problems and thinking Noel “to play or not to play with the band.” The latter founded his own record label “Sour Mash”.
