Canadian group Nickelback was founded in 1995 by vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroger and his brother bassist Mike Kroger, joined by guitarist Ryan Peak and cousin of the Krögers drummer Brandon Kroeger . The first release group was released “samizdat” in 1996, a 7-song mini-album Hesher, in the same year the musicians were prepared and their debut disc Curb, which was also released on their own. The first single was the song “Fly”, which was included on Hesher and Curb. In 1997, the drummer left the band his place was taken by Mitch Guindon (Mitch Guindon), which, however, also did not stay long, leaving in the car business. In the summer of 1998, for the installation of sat Ryan Vikedal. At the same time, the group enters the field of view of the representative of Roadrunner records, Ron Berman, listening to Curb, was so impressed that he decided to personally see how the guys perform well live. However, despite the complete confidence of Berman in the success of the group, it still took three months to persuade the label to sign with Nickelback the contract.
The State is The first album on the Roadrunner label, was released in 2000 (was released in Europe in 2001) and included 4 singles – “Old Enough”, “Worthy To Say”, and became real hits “Leader of Men” and “Breathe”. The disc sold very well, Nickelback went on tour with Creed, SevenDust and 3 Doors Down, and in 2001 was awarded the Juno Awards, as best new group.
In 2001 was released the album Silver Side Up, which was sold worldwide in the amount of 10 million copies. The single “How You Remind Me” topped the charts Mainstream Rock Chart, the Modern Rock Chart and entered the charts of pop music. The next single “Too Bad” also topped the Mainstream Rock Chart, but the charts of pop music did not last long. In 2002, Chad Kroeger wrote the song “Hero”, which was included in the official soundtrack for the film “Spider-Man”. In the same year, Nickelback released their first DVD Live at Home and have re-released their debut album, Curb.
In 2003 he released another album The Long Road, which was also commercially successful. Only he had released 5 singles, one of which – “Figured You Out” – stayed at the top of the charts Mainstream Rock Chart for 13 weeks.
In early 2005, Vikedal was gone, and the group was joined by drummer 3 Doors Down Daniel Eder . In the same year, Nickelback released their fifth album All The Right Reasons, which was sold worldwide in the number of 11 million copies.
In November 2008, was released the sixth album, Dark Horse. The single “Burn It To The Ground” was the opening theme for WWE RAW (entertainment world Wrestling Federation). All 8 songs from Dark Horse came out in the format of singles. In 2010 the band appeared at the closing of the Winter Olympic games. In February 2011, the musicians started writing material for the next album.
