Biography
American actor.
Full name – Martin Henry Boles.
While studying at the school Martin Balsam attended drama club, and after its completion he studied at the Dramatic Workshop of the New School in New York under the direction of director Erwin Piscator. His theatrical debut in a production in 1941. “The play is everything.” In 1947, Elia Kazan and Lee Strasberg chose Martin Bolsama on a role in a television project Actors Studio, where he began his active career on television. He starred in the television series “The Twilight Zone,” “Dr. Kildare,” “Murder, She Wrote” and many others. With the success and playing on stage, she received the prestigious award “Tony” for his role in a production in 1967, “You know, I can not hear you, when water is poured.”
On the big screen debut in 1954 in the film “On the Waterfront.” Having been working in the film “12 Angry Men,” “Psycho,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Cape Fear” and which brought the actor “Oscar” “A Thousand Clowns.”
Martin Balsam died of a heart attack in February 1996 in Rome and was buried in the cemetery in Bergen, New Jersey.
