Biography
American actress.
Real name – PIOT Heskll Rosenthal.
At the age of four years, Lee Grant has acted as a ballet dancer in the New York Metropolitan Opera, and has also studied dancing and acting skills. The first success came to Lee Grant after the execution of the role on Broadway in the play “A Detective Story”. In the movie, she made her debut in 1951 in the film version of the play, after which she was nominated for “Oscar” for Best Supporting Actress, and she won the award at the Cannes Film Festival.
In the early 1950s, the actress has been caused by the Commission on Un-American Activities to testify against her husband, playwright Arnold Manoffa. But she refused to come and give evidence, with the result that fell into the “black list” of Hollywood. After that, her career was in jeopardy.
