This great Quartet was founded in October 1968 by guitarist Jimmy page (James Patrick Paige, R. 9 January 1944, Heston, England) following the dissolution of his previous project “the Yardbirds”.
A former member of this group Chris Dreja was replaced by John Paul Jones (John Baldwin, R. 3 June 1946, Sidcup, England; bass, keyboards), a well-known arranger and session musician. They wanted to take another vocalist Terry Reid, but he was advised to go to Robert plant (born 20 August 1948, Westbromwich, England). He in turn brought drummer John Bonham (b. 31 may 1948, Birmingham, England,. September 25, 1980). The Quartet was initially called “New Yardbirds”, but the band’s style is so strikingly different from the traditional manners Blues “the Yardbirds”, that the musicians Manager Peter Grant to come up with their new name Led zeppelin.
“Zeppelins” signed a prestigious contract with Atlantic records right after one of their first public gigs, brought the audience to ecstasy. In January of 1969, they released their debut album. It includes several things reminiscent of creativity “the Yardbirds”, such as “Good Times, Bad Times”, “Dazed And Confused” and was generally good, but it was only predtechy real hard rock. Between 1970 and 1976 “Zeppelins” released five excellent albums from which these masterpieces were “Led zeppelin IV” (sometimes interpreted as “Four symbols”) with the hit “Stairway to Heaven” and especially the double “Physical graffiti”, a song from which (“Kashmir”, “Trampled Underfoot”, “In My Time Of Dying”, “In The Light”) became unconditional and unsurpassed classics of hard rock. Despite the fact that since 1975 in the lives of group members there was a period of violent troubles (plant with his wife in a car accident), a year later, the band released a good album “Presense”. And although the album got platinum, sold it with less success than the previous one.
During the American tour in 1977, the plant received the news that from viral infection he died a six year old son. Tour is cancelled and begin to circulate rumors about the breakup of the group.”Zeppelins” been dormant for almost a year, but in late 1978, they arrived in the Studio “Abba” “Polar music”, where started to record their next album “In through the out door”. In 1982, out of their latest album, “Coda”, mixed from recordings made during the life of Bonham. The remaining members of the group have since played with other musicians were engaged in solo projects and always helped each other.
