Judy Garland – alias American actress and singer Frances Ethel Gumm. Her career continued for 45 of the 47 years of her life. World fame as an actress, she received musical and dramatic films.
Biography
Frances was born on June 10, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. After performances in vaudeville with her sister, she signed a contract with the film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, even as a teenager. Since then, the actress has appeared in more than 20 films, nine of which, together with actor Mickey Rooney. The film on which it came to know most of all in 1939, it was “The Wizard of Oz.”
After leaving the studio after fifteen years of work, Judy Garland made even better by giving concerts, beats all records. Soon, she was back to shooting film and appeared in the highly successful films.
As a sign of respect for her talent multilateral Judy Garland won the Youth Award “Oscar”, “Golden Globe”, and also received a “Grammy” awards and “Tony”. She was nominated for “Oscar” for the main role in the film “A Star Is Born” 1954 “Best Actress” category, and as “Best Supporting Actress” for the film “The Nuremberg Trials” in 1961. For 39 years Judy was the youngest winner of the Prize Cecil DeMille for his contribution to the film industry.
Despite her professional triumph, the actress struggled with personal problems throughout his life. Uncertain in her appearance Judy, suffered even more when directors and producers aggravates the situation, saying that it is unattractive, manipulating its complexes. Garland and suffered from financial instability, often she was forced to pay hundreds of dollars of arrears. The actress has been married five times, four of her marriage ended in divorce.
Judy Garland died June 22, 1969 of an accidental drug overdose. In 1997, she was posthumously awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement. And in 1999, the American Film Institute placed her among the ten greatest actresses in the history of American cinema.
