Biography
Jo Van Fleet was born December 30, 1914 in Oakland, California. His acting career began in 1946 on Broadway. In 1954 she was awarded the “Tony” Award Points role in the production of “Trip to Bountiful” where she played with Lillian Gish and Eva Marie Saint. Her first film role was in 1955 in the film “East of Eden”, where she played the mother of the character of James Dean. This is her debut role earned her the award “Oscar” as Best Supporting Actress. Later she starred in such films as “The Rose Tattoo” (1955), “The River Wild” (1960), “The Tenant” (1976) and others.
In 1946, Joe married William Beilza, which gave birth to the son of Michael, and was with him until his death in 1990. The actress died on June 10, 1996 in New York at the age of 81 years.
For his contribution to cinema it has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
