Biography
Jane Alexander was born on October 28, 1939 in Boston (Massachusetts, USA). Bent for play-acting has found out in itself during training at Sarah Lawrence College in 1950. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence University and the University of Edinburgh.
The beginning of an acting career became theatrical debut in the Broadway production of «The Great White Hope», immediately brought her “by Tony Award” in the category “Best Actress Plays.” In 1970, for her role in the film version of the same statement, and received his first Oscar nomination (Best Actress).
Over 70 Jane Alexander appeared regularly in stellar performances and movies. During this period, twice nominated for an Oscar for “Best Actress” for his work in the film “All the President’s Men” (1976) and “Kramer vs. Kramer” (1979).
His performances on Broadway, earned the love of the public and the genuine respect of critics. Nominated for «Tony Award» for his roles in productions of “6 Rms Riv Vu» (1973), «Find Your Way Home» (1974) and “First Monday in October” (1981). In the late seventies, twice nominated for an Emmy award for a magnificent view of Eleanor Roosevelt in the television movies “Eleanor and Franklin” (1976) and «Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years» (1977).
Even more fortunate for Jane stood out the 80s and 90s. In 1980 she received her first Emmy Award for her role in the television drama “play for time”. Continuing to take on challenging roles, some time later, the actress was once again nominated for an Oscar for the lead female role in the drama “The Will” (1983), in which she brilliantly played the role of Carol Vizerli – wives and mothers, taking care of his family in the days of the disaster that followed the nuclear war. Back on Broadway he received «Drama Desk Award» and another nomination for «Tony Award» for his work in the play «The Sisters Rosensweig» (1993).
She works as an actress when combined with an active civil position. Fulfilling duties chairwoman, she has played a key role in the activities of the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities. the organization took over management in an extremely difficult time (mid-90s) for her.
