BIOGRAPHY
Eileen Evelyn Greer Garson was born September 29, 1904 (London, England).
The Second World War brought to the cinema three stable female image: Rosie, “rivet” (woman copes with men’s work), Betty “legs” Grable (Queen glossy covers) and “Duchess” Greer – Mrs. Miniver (Hollywood idea of sredneklassovoy respectability, persistence, self-control, kind and humble).
Directed by long time could not make full use of multi-talent Garzon. She first applause, appearing in the role of a charming Chipping Catherine, wife of the teacher in the film “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” (1939), for which won the first of his seven nominations for “Oscar” for best actress. Its spectacular appearance on the big screen was a nostalgic attempt to rethink “Miniver image” and the war years: the role of a young, submissive, but strong Eleanor Roosevelt in the film “Sunrise at Campobello” (1960).
She died in 1996 (Dallas, TX, USA).
