Biography
American actress, one of the members of the family of actor Barrymore.
Real name – Ethel Mae Blythe.
Ethel Barrymore first appearance on Broadway was held in 1895 in the play, in which he played her uncle, John Drew, Jr.. Among her Broadway roles are known Nora in “A Doll’s House” and Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”.
An active film career actress began only in 1940, after moving to Hollywood. He starred in “Spiral Staircase” films, “The Paradine Case,” “Moonrise”, “Pinky” and others. In 1945, for his role in the film “Only the Lonely Heart” Ethel Barrymore was awarded the “Oscar” in the category “Best Supporting Actress”.
Ethel Barrymore died June 18, 1959 at his home in Hollywood from cardiovascular disease before they reach two months before his 80th birthday.
