In the overall standings of the 2006/12 World Cup, Emil Hegle Svendsen took the seventeenth place. Svendsen is distinguished not only by high speed qualities, but also by quite accurate shooting.

But in the 2009-2010 season the Norwegian managed to take a convincing revenge against both rivals and destiny. He won the World Cup Final, as well as won two gold medals at the Vancouver Olympics (relay race, individual race) and silver (sprint).
I started the season brilliantly: 2 wins and 1 second place in 1 stage in Östersund, I also completed 2 wins in the last 9 stage in Oslo (Holmenkolen). In total for the season 8 cup wins and 3 second places, in comparison with Tarja Be (5×1, 2×2, 5×3) is impressive, But! Stability and participation in all races brought the World Cup with a margin of just 5 points. Emil is only the second (1,105 against 1110). The main start at the World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk is successful, but no more. Gold and silver in personal races, and gold in the relay race.
