Biography Editors
Four members of the group EDITORS is the first to recognize that they are not from the centres of rock ‘ n ‘ roll in the UK. Vocalist Tom Smith is from Stroud , guitarist Chris Urbanowicz is from Nottingham, current drummer ed lay is from Ipswich and bass player Russell Litch, only close brummie is a native of Solihull. Maybe it’s geographical base, forcing the group to assume that “rock-n-roll do not pursue” them, but recent events give reason to assume that this principle is changing. Everything was set in motion when ed became the last member on Board the previous incarnation of the group, and EDITORS was born. Founding group at the University of Stafford, on graduation the four relocated to Birmingham as it was the closest big city, and the so-called house of their management.
Not surprisingly, this ‘don’t rock-n-roll’ group rejected the interest of major record company to sign a contract with Newcastle updated independent branch of the company Kitchenware in late 2004. And this should not be surprising that the Quartet then took a tour with such a schedule, which rarely happens these days, repeatedly playing around the country in early 2005. With the debut single “Bullets” (January 2005), sold all its limited edition on the day of release, follow-up single, “Munich” (April 2005) and once in the top 30 singles up the star of the group Editors. By the summer, broke into top 20 singles with his work “Blood” (July 2005), Editors began to be discussed in respectful terms everywhere in the music press after stunning performances in a storm of Glastonbury.
Re-recording “Bullets” (September 2005), Editors were already a big band. Debut album ”the Back Room” (July 2005) entered the charts at 13, but continued to find fans throughout the autumn as the group was vkrapleny growing interest in Europe permanent live concerts in the UK. The tour to support the album through the whole European mainland and the UK with artists Franz Ferdinand to the end of 2005 marked the culmination of an amazing year for the band Editors. 1,000 limited editions of the single in the beginning of the year to perform in concert before an audience of more than 250 000 people and is the album going to win the “platinum” in the end, the group of Editors was on its way and won.
2006 continues to bring only good news for the group. Re-edition of “Munich” in January gave the group the first time to get into the top Ten on the UK singles chart, “The Back Room” climbed the charts as high as you rarely get albums, finally reaching the second line and delivering “platinum disk” for the group to place it next to the now somewhat redundant gold disc. The United States took a week of stay of the group so that it can only be described as droning speeches, and now the group returns through the European mainland and the United States before the start of three shows at the Brixton Academy in London in may, tickets are on sale left.
