Biography
Drake is a multiple Hip-Hop Grammy Award winner, whose albums do not go unnoticed by music critics and listeners. His album “Scorpion” is one of the 15 best compilations of 2018, and it is possible that some singles will enrich the musician’s shelf with awards.
Childhood and youth
On October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada, Aubrey Drake Graham was born into the family of African American Dennis Graham and Jewish woman Sandra Chef. The boy inherited a craving for music from his father – he was a drummer in the team of one of the founders of rock and roll Jerry Lee Lewis. Mother worked as an English teacher.
The creative education of Aubrey was taken by his father, and the religious – by the mother: in the family of a Jew and a Catholic, the boy was brought up according to the Mosaic Law. He attended a Jewish day school and had a bar mitzvah ceremony.
When Aubrey was 5 years old, her parents divorced. He stayed with his mother in Toronto, while his father returned to Memphis, Tennessee, where he spent several years in prison for drug trafficking. Due to financial and legal restrictions that the arrest imposed on Dennis, he did not see his son until he came of age.
Until the 6th grade, Aubrey and Sandra lived in the working class district of Toronto, in 2000 they moved to the wealthy Forrest Hill area. In his youth, the rapper played in the youth hockey team “Weston Red Wings”.
While attending Forest Hill Collegiate Institute High School, he developed a passion for the arts. Aubrey’s racial and religious affiliation was often the reason for ridicule and bullying from classmates, so the young man moved to Vaughan Road Academy. Incessant harassment and a burgeoning acting career drove Aubrey out of school. The musician was educated in October 2012.
Music
Young Drake began his creative career as an actor. When the Canadian turned 15, a school friend introduced him to his father, who was working as an agent. He arranged for the young man to audition for the series “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” Aubrey was cast as Jimmy Brooks, an unreleased basketball star.
The sports career of a high school student was ruined by an accident – once at a party, a classmate shot him in the back, which left Jimmy in a wheelchair, paralyzed, with no chance of recovery. Having overcome the crisis, the young man devoted himself to music.
Acting became for Drake not a way to realize his ambitions, but a necessity: Sandra became seriously ill and could not provide for her son. The only income that the Graham family had was Canadian television. Aubrey starred in Degrassi: The Next Generation until 2007, appearing in a total of 145 episodes.
Jay Z and hip-hop duo Clipse inspired Drake to create his debut mixtape “Room for Improvement” (2006), which includes 17 original tracks and 5 remixes. The recording features American rappers Trey Songz and Lupe Fiasco. The disc sold 6,000 copies.
A year later, the aspiring singer’s discography was replenished with a second mixtape “Comeback Season”, which included freestyle to Kanye West’s song “Barry Bonds”, a track from Lil Wayne “Man of the Year”. The composition “Replacement Girl” was the first to appear on television.
The third mixtape “So Far Gone” (2009) brought the musician popularity thanks to the songs “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful” – both received a gold certificate from the RIAA, and “Best I Ever Had” went to # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Reissue The compilation album on EP allowed him to debut at # 6 on the Billboard 200 and take the first music award – Juno Awards – in 2010.
A real war began for Drake: the labels offered incredible conditions, just to lure the aspiring star. The rapper signed with Young Money Entertainment in June 2009. Their first album together, “Thank Me Later,” came out exactly one year later and debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200, selling 447,000 copies in a week. The second album “Take Care” (2011) achieved the same success. For this album, Drake won his first Grammy.
Drake’s song “In My Feelings”
The third compilation “Nothing Was the Same” (2013) was not inferior in popularity to its predecessors, taking 1st place in the US Billboard 200. A tour in support of this album – “Would You like a Tour?” – brought Drake $ 46 million.
The record “Views” (2016) made the musician beloved in the UK, Germany, France, Australia and other countries, and the track “One Dance” became the most popular track in the history of Spotify – as of October 2016 it was listened to more than 882 million times. The song “Hotline Bling” brought the performer second and third Grammy awards.

Personal life
On Drake’s account there are many broken women’s hearts, and one of them is Madonna. In an interview with Us Weekly, the singer admitted that she would like to go on a date with the rapper, “just kiss him”. During a joint performance at the 2015 Coachella festival, the queen of pop culture initiated a kiss.

In response, Drake showed conflicting emotions: he grimaced and wiped his lips. Later on Instagram, the artist wrote:
“Everyone misinterpreted my shock! I had a chance to kiss the queen herself, with Madonna, and I will remember this for the rest of my life. Thank you Madonna! ”
Drake’s loudest romance is with Rihanna, with whom the artist, according to personal confessions, has been in love since the age of 22. The relationship began in 2009, after the musicians accidentally collided in a bowling alley. Drake’s track “Fireworks” is dedicated to the events of that evening. In the videos for Rihanna’s “What’s My Name” (2010) and Drake’s “Take Care” (2012), the artists played lovers. Even romantic photos and hot performances did not convince them to confess their personal life together.
Finally, at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Drake publicly vowed eternal love to Rihanna. They got paired shark tattoos. And when fans prepared for Rihanna to become the wife of a Canadian, the couple broke up. Their official representatives, however, do not deny that the lovers can get together.
