Dorothy Malone – American actress, winner of the “Oscar” in 1956.
Dorothy Eloise Maloney was born January 30, 1925 in Chicago. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Dallas, where young Dorothy began to act as a model and take part in school theatrical productions. During his studies at Southern Methodist University observed its agent «RKO» and she soon signed a contract with this film company. In 1942, she made her film debut.
At an early stage of his career, Dorothy Malone mostly starred in the films «B» category, many of which were westerns. In the years 1940-1950 the most famous of her roles have become the owner of a bookshop in the film “The Big Sleep” (1946), as well as Abigail in the film “Artists and Models” (1955).
In 1956, the actress received the award “Oscar” for her role in “Written on the Wind.” After that, it attracted even more attention to the directors, and in later years she was invited to shoot in such films as “The Man with a Thousand Faces” (1957), “Stained Angels” (1958), “Sheriff” (1959) and ” Last journey “(1960).
Since the late 1950s, Dorothy Malone began to appear on television. From 1964 to 1969 she played the role of Constance MacKenzie in the television series “Peyton Place”.
