BIOGRAPHY
American film actor.
Real name – John Charlton Carter.
Born October 4, 1924 (Evanston, IL, USA).
Charlton began his acting career as a model. After his parents’ divorce and re-marriage of his mother with Chester Hestenom he and his family moved to a suburb of Chicago. He participated in amateur theater productions, tried his hand at directing while studying in college. In 1944 he left the school to the army, where he served for two years and then married Lydia Clark, a fellow student at the University, who worked as a model.
After completing military service, Heston went to New York, where he has won the recognition of the public, having played a role in the Broadway production of “Antony and Cleopatra.”
Heston was an active campaigner for the protection of human rights in the 1960s and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King in March 1963 in Washington.
Veteran of World War II, Heston was a real patriot. He visited soldiers in Vietnam in 1966, and spoke words of encouragement to American soldiers during the entry of Iraq in 2003.
The actor died in Beverly Hills, April 5, 2008 from cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
