Cape Town was founded in 1652. In 1795, the British began to settle here, where began the colonization of South Africa. The city is located in the south-west of the country on the Cape Peninsula, at the foot of Table Mountain. This mountain – the most popular attraction among tourists. To top it stretched the-art cable car, in which you can climb to an altitude of 1068 m and enjoy the spectacular views of the entire Cape Peninsula.

In the Cape Town is a favorite vacation spot renovated Old Port. Here you will find many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and discos. Among the historical attractions stands the oldest building of South Africa – the castle, which was built in 1666 from granite boulders to protect local communities. Also of interest are the Parliament building, which is located in front of the Queen Victoria monument, the residence of President of South Africa and the majestic building of the City Hall, University of Cape Town.

In Cape Town, the ancient buildings coexist with modern and Christian churches – with synagogues and mosques. South African Cultural History Museum is located in the building where the slaves lived before, and later settled Mail and the Supreme Court. In addition to historical finds of Cape Town, here are also presented exhibits from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. In Cape Town art gallery exhibits paintings by artists from around the world. Local Botanical Garden covers an area of 500 hectares, which collected more than 6 000 species of unique plants. At 12 km from the coast of the city is a prison, Robben Island, used here contained political prisoners, among whom was Nelson Mandela.

Cape Town is also known for its beaches. However, coastal waters are cool enough for swimming, so vacationers usually just sunbathe. The most popular beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton, Llandudno, Bantry Bay, Hout Bay and Blouberg. Rest is best from November to March and from August to November on the coast of Cape Town you can watch the whales frolicking.
