Model Cameron Russell became famous thanks to the scandal that occurred in 2012. At the TED conference (Technology, Entertainment, Design), she made a speech that offended many people: the model said that she was successful in fashion only because of her 58 cm waist, youth, femininity and white skin color. The last paragraph was very worrying for everyone who listened and watched her speech, after which many tried to accuse the model of racism. Stepping on the stage, Cameron Russell spoke about the dangers of extreme weight loss methods and urged the girls not to try to look like models. In her ten-minute speech, she stated that her appearance “hardly matches the narrow concept of beauty,” but noted that she “won the genetic lottery.” She called the fashion business evil and tried to protect young girls from wanting to enter it, saying that a woman cannot optionally become a model – this is inherent in her genetic code.
