Blyth Danner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Blyth Danner first received recognition at age 25, winning the Tony Award for his Broadway debut in “These Free Butterflies.”
Danner received two Emmy Awards for her role in Showtime’s “Doctor Huff”, Emmy nomination for the “Mulvaney Family” series and two nominations for the “Will and Grace” series. She was also nominated for the Golden Globe for her role as Anne Tyler in the series “When We were Adults.”
For more than 20 years, Dunner has played at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts. She appeared on stage with Kevin Kline in the play “Much Ado About Nothing” during the season of summer performances “Shakespeare in the Park” at The Public Theater. She participated in the performances of provincial theaters Mark Taper Forum, Trinity Repertory Company, BAM, and also in the play “Silvia” A.R. Gurney with Sarah Jessica Parker at the Manhattan Theater Club and three productions of the Roundabout Theater Company. The actress was awarded the Theater World Award for her work in the performance “Miserly” on the stage of the famous Lincoln Center.
Blyth Danner starred in the films: “Waiting for eternity” with Richard Jenkins; “Keepers of the World” with Richard Dreyfus; “The Great Santini” with Robert Duvall; “Meet the parents”, “Meet the Fockers” and “Meet the Fockers 2” with Robert De Niro and others. She also played in the film “Sylvia” along with her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow. The film with her participation “What is your number?” With Anna Faris is getting ready for the release on the screens. Now she is working on the picture “Lucky” studio Warner Bros.
Danner is the recipient of Katherine Hepburn’s inaugural medal from the Catherine Houghton Hepburn Center at the College in Bryn-More. She attended George School in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and became an honorary doctor in the fine arts of several educational institutions, including Williams College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Bard College, in which she studied.
For more than 35 years, Danner has been involved in the activities of environmental organizations and is a member of the advisory councils of the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Environmental Media Association in Los Angeles, the Environmental Advocates in New York and the Energy Vision in New York. She also is a member of the Bar of Planned Parenthood. Danner participates in the advisory board of the Cancer Fighting Foundation, which supports the Bruce Paltrow Foundation, named after her husband.
