Andrei Arshavin was born on May 29, 1981 in St. Petersburg. It was there that his career began. The love for football was instilled by the father, who used to be a good player. As a child Andrew was drafted and had a good chance of becoming a famous athlete. However, he gave his preference to football and did not regret it.
To date, Arshavin is the most famous Russian football player, who most successfully performed abroad. Many of his compatriots went abroad, but not all of them managed to gain a foothold there. His career, he began for the double of the St. Petersburg club Zenit. A year later, in 2000, he made his debut for the main line-up. Throughout his football career Arshavin spent over 300 matches for Zenit. At the European Championships in 2008, the football player did not take part in two starting matches, but his successful actions led to a sensational victory of the Russian national team over the Dutch national team in the quarterfinals, and it was then that managers of the club Arsenal noticed it.
After lengthy negotiations, which were complicated not only by the arrangement between the clubs, but also by problems with obtaining the right to work in England, Andrei became a player of the London “Arsenal”. Despite the fact that in his first match the football player was seriously injured, he continued the game and made many useful moves. For three years of playing for the club Arshavin failed to become a solid base player, but, at the same time, in decisive moments, Andrey scored beautiful goals and gave key programs.
Most recently, Andrew returned to Zenit on loan. The main reason for the loss of Arsenal’s interest in Arshavin is not his low level of play, but his “old age” for the football player. “Arsenal” is one of the youngest teams in the world, where a player in the 28-29 years is considered to be old.
Andrew is not only a good footballer, but also a fairly successful politician. He took part in the elections to the deputies of St. Petersburg, received the required number of votes, but refused the mandate in favor of a football career. Also Arshavin has his own brand, which is his manner of celebrating the goal scored. He puts his finger to his lips, calling the fans to silence. Moreover, he very often starred in commercials and participates in the filming of various TV shows. It’s hard to find a fan in Russia who would not have heard of Andrei Arshavin.
In the summer of 2013, the football player joined the “Zenith” as a free agent. In June 2015, the trainer Petrograd Andre Villash-Boas said that he no longer counted on Andrei. Soon, the striker signed a one-year contract with the Kuban.
