Andrew Scott – known Irish stage and film actor, familiar to Russian audiences for his role as Moriarty in the famous British TV series “Sherlock”.
Biography
Andrew Scott born October 21, 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. He studied at the Jesuit school for boys. In 8 years, he became interested in theater and on the weekends he took acting classes in drama school.
At 17, Andrew first came to the cinema. He confirmed for the lead role in the independent drama “Korea”, which was warmly received by critics, but went unnoticed at the box office. After filming in this film, Andrew went to Trinity College to study drama, but soon dropped out to devote himself entirely to the service of the theater.
His theater career was very successful. He has worked in the best theater venues in England and Ireland, both in Dublin Abbey Theather, and in London’s Royal Court Theater, as well as at various stages of Broadway. He has two prestigious theater Laurence Olivier Award and a variety of awards and nominations theater festivals.
Career in the cinema evolved less rapidly. In 1998, Andrew plays a small role in the war drama Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan.” Another notable work was the drama “Nora” (2000) with Ewan McGregor. In 2003, Andrew Scott receives IFTA award for Best Actor for his role in the black comedy “Dead bodies”.
In the 2000s, Andrew Scott is mainly played in the television series, among which are: “My life in the film” (2004), “John Adams” (2008), “Foyle’s War” (2010), “Blackout” (2012).
His starring role Andrew Scott was in 2010 in the “Sherlock” series, in which he continues to appear to this day.
