Alicia Amanda Wikander was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, the son of an actress and a psychiatrist. When she was only two months old her parents divorced. Alicia raised by his mother, and every other week she went to her father, where lived her half-brothers and sisters.
Wikander not immediately followed the mother’s footsteps. First she studied for nine years at the Royal Ballet School in Sweden. Along Alicia has appeared in several musicals Gothenburg Opera. In 15 years, the girl moved to Stockholm to study the senior classes of ballet and become a soloist. Summer Wikander also spent usefully. She attended language courses, and traveled all over the world. Once she visited the class of the School of American Ballet in New York. Because of injuries, Alicia was forced to abandon the career of professional dancer. She has twice tried unsuccessfully to enroll in drama school, following her dream of becoming an actress.
Alicia Vikander debut became “Min balsamerade mor” Swedish television project in 2002. she got a role in the dramatic television series “En decemberdröm” Three years. She appeared in episodes 13ti. After a few short films and TV series Wikander starred in the popular Swedish project, to make her famous for the whole of Scandinavia – “second direction.” This success brought the actress first role in a feature film “Rise”. Critics have positively accepted her performance. For his role in the drama, Alicia received an award as a rising star at the Stockholm Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival Award and the prestigious Swedish award Guldbagge.
Then there were two Scandinavian design: “Crown Jewels”, which received awards at Berlin Film Festival, and “A Royal Affair” with Mads Mikkelsen, Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. Soon Alicia Vikander invited to play in the English-language project of Joe Wright’s “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy novel. The drama also stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson and others. For the role of Kitty Alicia received a nomination from a BAFTA, and the Hamptons International Film Festival has added it to the list of 10 actors to look out for in 2012.
In 2013 Wikander starred in the Swedish drama “Hotel” and the British thriller “The Fifth Estate” with Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Bruhl, and others. Actress nominations again noted several prominent film festivals. A year later, Alicia appeared in the historical drama “Memories of the future” with Kit Harington and fiction film by Sergei Bodrov’s “Seventh Son”.
The widespread popularity of the actress received after the role of artificial intelligence in the fantasy thriller Alex Garland “Ex Machina” Donal Gleeson and Oscar Isaac. The film won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. Participation in this project has helped Wikander get the role in the following well-known projects. So, Alicia starred in Guy Ritchie in the spy movie “The Man From U.n.c.l.e.” with Henry Cavill, and in the biographical drama “The Girl from Denmark” with Eddie Redmayne. For the role of Lili Elbe, the actress received her first Oscar.
