Biography:
Actor
Albert Finney was born in Manchester, England. After high school, he received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Excellence in London, and in 1956 he made his debut on the London stage in the role of Brutus in “Julius Caesar”. He beat the many Shakespearean roles onstage, thanks to which it noted director and producer Tony Richardson, invited Finney in his first film “Comedian” (1960). Shortly after the premiere Finney made an offer to star in “Lawrence of Arabia”, but he refused (he scared off the project scope and the need to dedicate a year of life). But he accepted the lead role in “Tom Jones” (1963) that made him a star of the first magnitude.
By this time, the newspapers wrote about Finney as a new Lawrence Olivier, and the actor has decided to devote more time to the theater. His appearance in a movie since then have been relatively few. In particular, he played Hercule Poirot in several film adaptations of novels by Agatha Christie, and his work in “Murder on the Orient Express” (1974) was approved by the writer and the most nominated for the “Oscar”. Filming in the “big fish” have caused its first appearance at the awards ceremony: a year ago, Finney received the prize “Emmy”, “Golden Globe” and a BAFTA for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the television movie “The storm is coming,” and members of the crew almost forcibly made him to go to the presentation of awards.
Albert Finney was married twice (on the theatrical actress Jane Uenhem in 1957-1961, respectively, and on the French film star Anouk Aimee in 1970-1978 years). His son Simon Finney works in the film industry.
