Biography
The American actor.
Real name — Edward albert, Hamberger.
In six years, Eddie albert was already working as a paperboy to help his family. At 14 he enrolled in the school drama club. However, after school he went to the faculty of Economics at the University of Minnesota. From lack of money saved odd jobs: worked as a singer, circus performer, insurance agent. In 1933, he moved to new York and began working in radio. During world war II albert served in the marine corps of the United States.
In 1938, he debuted on the big screen in the movie “Brother Rat.” During his nearly 70-year career has acted in more than 150 movies and some 90 television series, including “Green spaces”, “Justice Burke”, “murder She wrote”, “Colombo”, “Hillbilly in Beverly hills”, “the ray Bradbury Theater”, “the twilight zone” and others. He was twice nominated for “Oscar” for best supporting actor in 1954 for the role of the photographer in the film “Roman holiday,” and in 1973 for the film “bleeding-heart”.
In addition to acting, Eddie albert took an active part in public and political life of the country. For a long time was the head of the organization “boy Scouts of America”, worked in the U.S. Department of energy, engaged in environmental issues.
In 1945 he married Mexican actress Margo, they had been married for 40 years, until the death of his wife. Educated son (also an actor) and a foster daughter.
In the last years of his life he suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. But led an active lifestyle: Jogging, swimming, winemaking, beekeeping, gardening, and travel extensively. Died of pneumonia at the age of 99 years. His son, who had abandoned his career and devoted all his time to courting the father, died six months later from cancer.
