Biography
American film actor, was also known as auto and motorcycle racer.
Full name – Terrence Steven McQueen.
In 1955, at a reception in the Actors Studio Lee Strasberg of 2000 applicants have been accepted only two people, one of them was Steve McQueen. After a few episodic appearances in various productions McQueen got his first notable role in the film “Somebody Up There Likes Me” with Paul Newman in the lead role. The first really famous role for McQueen was the role of bounty hunter Josh Randall in the TV series-western “Wanted: Dead or Alive.” The series was broadcast on CBS channel from 1958 to 1961. Total 94 series was filmed. Among his film credits such as “The Great Escape,” “The Magnificent Seven”, “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “Bullitt” and others. In 1976 McQueen suggested the idea of the film “The Bodyguard.” In this film, he never appeared. Only 16 years later it became the basis for the story of the same name tapes with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.
In 1995, the British magazine Empire has put Steve McQueen in the list of 100 sexiest actors, and in 1997 – in the list of 100 greatest stars in the history of cinema.
A year before his death, received a license-private trader pilot FAA. Then bought a private jet, which was sold together with a large collection of vehicles in 1982.
Steve McQueen died of lung cancer, his ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean.
