Biography
Roxanne Dawson was born on September 11, 1958 in Los Angeles.
Creation
In 1980, as a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, the actress began to appear in Broadway musicals. She continued her acting career during the 1980s and 1990s, taking even the most minor roles on television.
In 1994, Dawson won the role of the half-human semi-clerical engineer B’Elanna Torres in the television series “Star Trek: Voyager”, which lasted seven seasons. For her work in the series, she was three times nominated for the American Latino Media Arts Award, or simply ALMA Award (1998-2000), and in 2001 she was awarded this prize.
Other of her roles include the appearances in the series Nightingales, Rescuers Malibu, Matlock, Untouchables, Any Day Now, Without Trail, Lyon’s Lair, Division, in the American version of the Clutch, and in the television series Seven Days. She also participated in the voice acting of some of the series Star Trek: Enterprise.
Director and Producer
Continuing to star in Voyager, Dawson debuted as the director of the episode “Riddles”, which was released in September 1999. Later, she continued her directorial work, taking off several episodes of the Enterprise.
She also participated in the filming of the episodes of the Enchanted, the Lonely Hearts, The Lost, the Heroes and others.
Dawson became the producer of the TV series “Crossing the Jordan” and “Undisclosed Case.”
Writer
Dawson tested herself in the literary field in 1997. Her play “Walking Through the Heart” debuted at the University of Minnesota Duluth. In addition, in co-authorship with Daniel Graham, she wrote a trilogy of science fiction novels – “Entering Tenebria”, “Hope Tenebrea” and “Rising Tenebrea.”
