Plucking stage experience, he starred in the low-budget film “Murder in Monte Carlo» (Murder at Monte Carlo, 1935). He was offered a contract in Hollywood and in the same year he became a movie star, replacing the last-minute Robert Donat in the title role in the film “Captain Blood» (Captain Blood).
A tall, athletically built, handsome, it is ideal for the adventure genre and been irresistible in romantic roles. Unlike most stars, Flynn went to the army. According to some sources, the doctors found him unfit for service due to chronic malaria, congenital heart defect, and the early stages of tuberculosis; on the other, he simply dodged the draft. Anyway, not all the spectators were able to take it to the heroic image in such films as “Desperate journey» (Desperate Journey, 1942) or “The goal – Burma» (Objective Burma !, 1946).
In 1952 he went to Europe, where he starred in a number of paintings, had no success:. “The Master of Ballantrae» (The Master of Ballantrae; England, 1953), etc. He returned to Hollywood in 1956 and received rave critical reviews for his portrayal of the alcoholic the film “The sun Also rises» (The sun Also rises, 1957, based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway).
