BIOGRAPHY
Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhof was born April 3, 1924 (Cincinnati, OH, USA).
German immigrants named in honor of the daughter of Doris silent film actress Doris Kenen. It starts with a dancer’s career and then after in 1937, injured his leg in a car accident, she turned to singing. Day performed together with famous bands Turnip Barney and Bob Crosby recorded 12 popular songs with Les Brown, before the end of 1940 began a solo career. Rep That convinced her that Kappelhof very strange name, and offered to change it to Day, as in the song “Day After Day”, which was part of her repertoire.
Day signed a contract with the company “Warner Brothers” in 1948 and has played a role in the musical “Tea for Two” (1950), won the recognition of the audience thanks to the image of “girl-next-door” and a strong voice.
Now she supervises animal protection society Doris Day in Carmel, California.
